 Jennifer Wallace

Jennifer Wallace
President/Fund Development Chair

An independent financial planner since 2006, Jennifer Wallace works with individuals, small business owners, and their families to develop and implement a plan for their long-term and sustainable financial independence. In 2012 she introduced business consulting services to the micro and small business community throughout Niagara, helping businesses grow from a well-managed foundation. As founder and organizer of the Growing Women Entrepreneurs (GWEn) Conference, Jennifer is able to further support the success of entrepreneurs by presenting professional development through events. When not working with her clients, she is passionate about her community, dedicating her time to the Gillian’s Place Board of Directors, as well as volunteering in the arts & culture sector of Niagara as Chairperson of the City of St. Catharines' Arts & Culture Advisory Committee. In 2014 Jennifer received a Forty under 40 award.

Karen Tribble

Karen Tribble
Past- President

Karen Tribble has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University, an MBA from McMaster University and was a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Services Executives until her retirement in 2009. Upon receiving her MBA, she spent the next 25 years in senior administrative positions within the hospital systems in Niagara including CEO of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Hospital, Vice President at the St. Catharines General Hospital, Vice President of Clinical Services at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre, and Vice President at the Niagara Health System. Her professional committee work included the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Rehabilitation Technical Working Group and the Rehabilitation System Changes and Integration Task Force, the Niagara Regional Stroke Steering Committee and the Regional Geriatric Program.

Maria Bau-Coote

Maria Bau-Coote began her political career in 2010 as the first elected female Deputy Lord Mayor for the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. She is currently serving her second term on Town Council. Along with her passion for local politics, Maria is also passionate about healthcare. Maria was the Executive Director of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Family Health Team for nine years. She is currently working on her Masters in Health Administration through the University of Regina as well as her certification as a Healthcare Executive through the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Maria’s previous involvement in not-for-profit organizations includes the Niagara District Chapter of the Kidney Foundation, the Diabetes Association and Trillium Gift of Life Network.

Cindy Bourassa

Cindy Bourasa

Cindy Bourassa is an energetic Branch Manager with TD Bank, working in a large Retail and Commercial branch in St. Catharines.  Cindy is also the head of the TD Women in Leadership District Committee, where she supports women who are looking to advance their career in the organization by sharing her experiences and resources. She has been a volunteer in the violence against women sector since 2005 and has sat on the United Way of Hamilton-Burlington Cabinet committee. Cindy is the mother of a brilliant little boy. Cindy is passionate about leadership in the community and works to make a difference in the lives of women and children through awareness and fundraising.

Angela Zengari

Angela Zangari
Director

Angela Zangari is the Executive Vice President Finance and Operations and Chief Financial Officer for the Niagara Health System (NHS). She holds professional designations as a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Director, with expertise in corporate governance. She has more than 20 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience with the NHS, one of the largest multi-site hospitals in the province. Angela oversees an annual operating budget of more than $500 million. Her portfolio includes finance, supply chain management, engineering and facilities management, environmental services, bio-medical engineering, food services, information communication technology, capital planning and development and health records.

Robert Mcgray

Robert McGray
Director

Robert McGray, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at Brock University. His research focuses on Adult Education and Community Development. Robert is an avid runner, woodworker, and equine enthusiast. He is also an Assistant Editor of the Canadian Journal for the Study of Adult Education. Robert has served on Gillian’s Place Board of Directors for two years, sitting on both the governance and strategic planning sub-committees.

 

Michele Auger

Michele Auger
Director

Michele Auger is a lifelong member of the St. Catharines community. She is a certified Interior Designer and a seasoned entrepreneur. She has successfully operated Finesse Interiors design studio and store in a renovated century-old church in downtown St. Catharines for the past 10 years. Michele received the Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2009. She supports a wide variety of organizations such as Canadian Federation of University Women, Zonta Club of St. Catharines, Heart Niagara, Niagara Furniture Bank, Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Community Care and Family and Children’s Services. Michele has been a Gillian's Place Board Member for 3 years and currently serves as Vice-President. Michele’s experience at Gillian's Place has re-enforced the need for support and education and will continue to contribute to the community in the hopes of freeing oppressed women and children.

 

Janet Allen

Janet Allen
Director

Janet Allan is a Partner with KPMG LLP. She holds a professional designation as a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant, with over thirty-five years’ experience working in public accounting with not-for-profit organizations, government agencies and owner-managed businesses. Janet is also the National Leader for KPMG related to not-for-profit accounting which includes an annual update related to accounting standards for these organizations and presentations on behalf of Imagine Canada on the ten to-dos for Audit Committees of NPOs. Janet is currently the Treasurer of the Rotary Club of St. Catharines Lakeshore in addition to her work at Gillian’s Place. Past community involvement includes representation on the Boards of the United Way of St. Catharines and District, Niagara Health System, Niagara Peninsula Rehabilitation Centre, YWCA of St. Catharines, and the Canadian Federation of University Women: St. Catharines.

Samah

Samah Marei
Director

Samah Marei comes to Gillian’s Place from a background in education. She earned her degree in History from UCLA and is currently completing post-grad work at Oxford. She has taught locally at the elementary level as well as at Niagara College, and is a teacher of Arabic at the Qasid Institute. In addition to teaching history and sociology, Samah has spent the last 15 years presenting workshops on Diversity and Inclusion in both the workforce and the community. Samah’s work on Multiculturalism and Religious Pluralism has become part of a college textbook on diversity. Samah began volunteering with Gillian’s Place in 2016 and hopes to bring awareness of the shelter and its various programs and services to the broader Niagara Region.

Tanja Loeb

Tanja Loeb
Executive Director

Tanja joins Gillian’s Place as an established not-for-profit and charitable sector leader. She has a twenty plus year track record with; operational development and management; program creation and implementation and stakeholder relations. Prior to this appointment, Tanja was Director of Operations and Programs with Lymphoma Canada for the last four years.
